Let me tell you a little about myself. I was born in Skibbereen, West Cork, Ireland and always had a fascination with photography. I bought my first camera, an old Frauka Soloda III camera at an auction in the town hall when I was fifteen years old. My next camera was an Olympus OM1 SLR camera and in the past few years I purchased a digital Canon EOS D20 SLR.
I'm a chartered environmental scientist and environmental auditor by profession. I now live in Bandon, the gateway town to West Cork. Photography is much more than a hobby for me; it brings together two of my great passions, the environment and history. It teaches me about where I live and where I come from. It teaches me how my ancestors, lived and died, how they interacted with the environment and what they passed on to our generation. I hope my photography will give one a sense of appreciation for what a unique country we have and a respect for what was left to us. Photography like science teaches me humility and respect for what we share with other creatures, with nature in all its wonder and greatness. Photography also provides a record of what we as a generation will ultimately pass on or destroy to future generations.
I hope you enjoyed viewing my photographs, it was a challenge putting this all together, it is dedicated to my father Michael and the memory of my late mother Noeleen Waugh Nee Collins throught whoes inspiration and strength in illness encouraged me to live my dreams.
